| HOW IT BEGAN |
| The story:
|
| My ‘career’ has
primarily depended on my ORGANISING and RESOURCE (time
and cost) MANAGEMENT skills. While I have learned a lot
from the time spent with the various companies and the
people with whom I have had the opportunity to work, and
enjoyed the unpredictability of the set up process in
many of these roles, I had not recognised that my
organizing skills was a gift through which I might
fulfil one of my dreams – to work independently. |
| Recognising the
opportunity and how to put my gift to work in fulfilling
my dream was the hard part. Euan's patience and balanced
view allowed me look within and find it. Once it was
defined, everything else simply “fell into place”. To
feel professionally fulfilled and challenged and have
the learning experiences I enjoy would require my
working in varied environments with different people /
companies. While this may be "stress" to some people, to
me working on multiple things, with several people,
learning, and using varied skills is my idea of fun. |
| My work had to involve
doing something I loved - ORGANISING & HELPING OTHERS
with a super positive outlook. Suzanne’s attention to
detail helped me refine the concept that has eventually
become the Organiser with the Attitude +. Through my
gift I could fulfil my dream and this will hopefully
assist all of you, my prospective clients, by giving you
free time, with
which you can achieve your dreams and goals. |
| The company name:
|
| I wanted something
that would symbolise for me women who represented
certain strengths within their careers and an element of
compassion in their lives, while also indicating that
this business was to be run on a defined platform of
values. There are many people and even more who are
unrecognised, who set examples on a daily basis in
courage, leadership, character, and all the qualities
that define the kind of person we would want to emulate.
It was just sheer chance, or perhaps because I love the
old movies that these two LEGENDS stood out, who
coincidentally shared a surname - Ms Katherine Hepburn
and Ms Audrey Hepburn. Hence HEPBURN PRINCIPLES. |
| The logo: |
|
Merely symbolises what I
have learned - being an organiser/assistant requires you
to be an "octopus" - multi-skilled and multi-tasking
almost constantly! So was born the Red octopus for the
happiness, strength, fun and the love I have for the
work I do, wearing the famous Kate Hepburn black slacks,
and the Audrey Hepburn glasses. Being an appalling
artist, the original design of EVE (a character name
both stars have used) is
the creative genius of Dennis, who was able to see the
picture I had in my head. |
| TO THOSE I OWE SO
MUCH, THANK YOU |
|
Alexis: |
As always. |
|
Dennis: |
The laughter, the logo design
- translating my thoughts to artwork! |
| Euan: |
For the 'dream', the balance, opening the
floodgates!!! |
|
My “little” family: |
For their daily affection. |
|
Suzanne: |
Eye for detail, listening,
brainstorming. |
|
Without their unwavering support and positive
reinforcement,
this dream would have stayed on the
“list”!
|
|
Justin, Marlon, Stuart: |
For all the IT and website assistance. |
|
| For ... a lifetime of
support, encouragement, and believing in me; seeing in
me what I was never able to see; taking me through the
varied, sometimes turbulent roller coaster of my life;
showing me what great collaboration is all about;
teaching me to think outside the circle; helping me
identify the standards I wanted for my own; and getting
me to this point!! |
| All the above
mentioned as well as Baab & Mom et al - my family, Bev and Bud, Dr & Mrs Kim, Hepzi & family, Ingrid & Martin & family,
Jan, Karen & family, Piet & Margreet, Vandana & family,
William, Yorick |
| Thank you also to the
many others along the way: the encounters may have been
brief or longer, but everyone of them have played a role
as an example of who to be and/or what to do or the
reverse, with or without my awareness of their actions,
who for various reasons are not mentioned individually. |
